Wisdom teeth · Toongabbie
Pain at the back of the jaw, swelling around a partly erupted tooth, or a dentist has told you to keep an eye on it. These may be signs that your wisdom teeth need to be extracted. We start with an assessment and a consultation, so you know what is actually going on before any decision about removal.
Extractions at our clinic may begin from $350. However, surgical removal is more involved in wisdom teeth extraction and is quoted after your assessment. Conditions apply.
What the assessment covers:
A few details is all we need. We’ll confirm a time that suits you.
See our Privacy Policy.
Guide prices are for straightforward extractions; surgical removal is quoted after assessment. Sending an enquiry doesn’t create a treatment plan — what’s suitable for you is assessed at your appointment by an AHPRA-registered practitioner. Conditions apply.
Not every wisdom tooth comes out easily or straight. Others may cause problems. The point of the first appointment is to determine your situation.
Your dentist examines the area and reviews an OPG showing the position of each wisdom tooth and its roots.
Whether removal is indicated, what is involved, the likely recovery, and the risks that apply to your case.
Straightforward and many surgical cases are managed here. Complex cases are referred to an oral surgeon.
Get written aftercare instructions, pain-management advice and a review if it is needed.
Wisdom tooth removal is surgery and carries risks, including:
How likely any of these are depends on the position of the tooth, its roots, your age and your medical history. Your dentist will go through the risks that apply to you, and the alternatives, including leaving the tooth in place and monitoring it.

Tell us if you are anxious when you book and it is noted before you arrive. Agree a stop signal with your dentist, and the chair comes up whenever you raise it — during the assessment or the removal itself.
Local anaesthetic is given time to work and tested before anything begins. If you can still feel the area, say so and more is given. Sedation options are discussed separately where they are clinically suitable.
You leave the assessment with the findings, the options including monitoring, and a written quote. Removal is booked as a separate appointment unless you ask otherwise.

You will have an itemised written quote before any removal is booked. What you pay depends on whether the extraction is straightforward or surgical, and how many teeth are involved.
Also, every health fund policy is different, so we can't quote your rebate over the phone or online. Bring your card to your appointment and we'll swipe it at reception to check what's available to you on the spot. If you prefer to spread the cost instead, payment plans are also available through third-party providers, with eligibility and terms set by them.

Not always. Some wisdom teeth erupt into a useful position and can be kept and cleaned. Removal is generally considered where there is decay, repeated infection, gum problems around a partly erupted tooth, damage to the neighbouring tooth, or a cyst. Your dentist will explain which situation applies to you after the assessment, including the option of monitoring.
A straightforward extraction removes a tooth that has erupted and is accessible. A surgical extraction is used where the tooth is partly or fully covered by gum or bone, or where the roots are curved or close to the nerve; it may involve a small incision and sometimes sectioning the tooth. Surgical removal takes longer and costs more.
A straightforward extraction starts from $350 as a guide. Surgical removal, multiple teeth, sedation and any specialist referral all change the figure, so the only accurate answer is the itemised written quote you receive after your assessment.
Conditions applyMost removals are done with local anaesthetic so the area is numb while you remain awake. Depending on your case and your medical history, other options including sedation or a hospital general anaesthetic may be discussed or referred. Sedation has its own suitability requirements, recovery instructions and transport arrangements.
Swelling and discomfort are usually most noticeable in the first two to three days and then settle. Many people take a day or two off after a surgical removal. Recovery varies between individuals and with the complexity of the extraction, and your dentist will give you written aftercare instructions.
Contact the practice if bleeding is difficult to control, if pain is getting worse rather than gradually settling after a few days, if swelling is increasing, or if you develop a fever or a persistent bad taste. These can be signs of dry socket or infection and should be assessed.
These conditions apply to the prices, offers, Price Beat and treatment warranty referred to on this page. If anything here is unclear, ask reception before your appointment.
The $350 figure is the published guide price for a normal extraction and is not a quote. Surgical removal is more involved and is priced separately after assessment. Your fee depends on the tooth, its position and roots, whether the removal is surgical, and how many teeth are treated in one appointment. Published prices are guides only; final fees depend on individual clinical findings.
The assessment, OPG and any sedation, medication or review appointments are separate items. You will receive an itemised written quote before any removal is booked.
Some wisdom teeth can be removed at the practice and some are better managed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, or in a hospital setting under general anaesthetic. This depends on the position of the tooth, its roots, your medical history and your preference.
Where a referral is appropriate, the specialist or hospital sets their own fees and these are not included in our quote.
Any health fund rebate depends on your level of cover, waiting periods and annual limits, and is determined by your fund rather than by us. We cannot quote a rebate over the phone or online. Eligible children may be able to have some treatment covered under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, which is assessed by Medicare.
Applies to valid written treatment plans from other Sydney dental practices, presented to the clinic before any treatment commences. Price beats cannot be applied retrospectively to work already completed.
The competing plan must be current, itemised (with ADA item numbers where applicable), priced in AUD, show the practice name and contact details, and be prepared by a registered dental practitioner after an examination. It must be comparable — the same or clinically equivalent procedures, materials and scope. The clinic may require an in-person consultation to confirm clinical equivalence.
Not available for quotes that are incomplete, verbal, expired, bundled with unrelated services, or that include promotional add-ons unrelated to the proposed treatment. Not to be combined with other discounts, and not redeemable for cash. The price beat remains at the clinic’s discretion and may be declined where matching is not commercially viable or not clinically appropriate.
All treatment is subject to clinical assessment. Where a different treatment is recommended as safer or more suitable, the 10% Price Beat does not apply, because it applies only to comparable, clinically appropriate treatment plans.
A workmanship warranty is available on selected treatments, for the periods published by the practice:
Warranties are linked to the treatment performed at a Dentist Near Me clinic and apply only where you attend 6-monthly check-ups and cleans at Dentist Near Me Merrylands or Toongabbie and follow all care instructions. Cleans completed at other clinics void the warranty, as do missed maintenance visits, smoking (for implants) and failure to wear retainers (for aligners).
Cover is limited to material or workmanship issues. It does not cover new or progressive dental disease, trauma, accidental damage, or complications from not following post-treatment advice. Where a filling is later assessed as unsuitable and alternative treatment such as a crown is advised, the filling warranty does not apply. Warranties are non-transferable and apply to the original patient and treatment location. If a claim is made, the clinic determines the appropriate remedy after clinical assessment.
Afterpay, Zip and Humm are provided by third parties. Approval, eligibility, instalment amounts and fees are set by the provider, not by the practice. Early release of superannuation on compassionate grounds is assessed by the ATO, not by us.
All treatment is provided by AHPRA-registered practitioners following an individual clinical assessment. All dental treatment carries risks, which your dentist will discuss with you before treatment proceeds.
Advertised prices are current at the time of publication and may be changed or withdrawn. Individual results may vary. Some images are stock photos or models, not actual patients.
